01About This Special Issue
Nanotechnology is a term used to refer to the study of manipulation of matter on an atomic and molecular scale, ie it is science and technology that focuses on the special properties of nanometer sized materials. The main goal is to create new materials, new products and processes from the modern ability to see and manipulate atoms and molecules. The current context of technological development increasingly requires the development of new technologies in order to replace those currently available. The area of communications systems demands the creation of systems with high information density, integrating its components with greater capacity for data transmission and processing. Available new technologies may enable the use of the previously unused Terahertz band (THz), thus opening up a wide range of applications with the emergence of new materials that have interesting characteristics in this frequency range, such as graphene and other two-dimensional materials. Thus, this special edition is proposed, which focuses on the development of high level research in nanotechnology, specifically in nanophotonics and nanoplasmonics with emerging applications in the far infrared region / THz. This area of nanotechnology has been growing very fast in recent years as one of the new technological developments, proving to be a very promising area of study and research for this and the next generations.
Aims and Scope:
- Graphene
- Nanoplasmonics
- Non reciprocal devices
- THz
- Photonic crystals
- Nanoantennas
