01About This Special Issue
In spite of several researches made on effectiveness of maggot in wound healing, very little interest has shown in India about use of MDT in Human medicine as well as in Veterinary medicine. Nowadays, maggot therapy is also become a choice of treatment for veterinary practitioner in abroad because of concerned over antibiotic resistance and the increase demand for organic husbandry and residue freemilk and meat. In horse, maggot therapy has been described as an alternative approach to the management of septic navicular bursitis, hoof infections and necrosis in case of complicated laminitis (Morrison, 2007) and similarly in sheep in acute and chronic inter digital skin inflammation.
