About This Special Issue
Vector borne diseases causing a serious problem across the globe. It is also a major problem in different states of India. In recent years, Japanese encephalitis, Dengue and Malaria cases are spreading around the country at a very faster rate. The vector species responsible for causing such diseases belonged to Anopheles, Culex and Aedes group. The environment factors also playing a signification role in transmission of mosquito borne diseases. Beside this, increase in number of swine population, piggery firm, increase urbanization, immigration of people etc are found to be associated with transmission of diseases. To control the burden, special attention should be given in early detection of cases and vector control methods. Comparing to the incidence of vector borne diseases, very limited numbers of studies are available from India especially from areas where the incidence of such cases is found very high. Studies on clinical and sociodemographic risk factor associated with disease transmission, in vivo /in vitro studies related to drug resistance, development of novel microscopic slide examination technique for detection of antimalarial resistance, prevalence of insecticide resistance mosquito vectors, vector distribution and bionomic studies are expected from authors. Novel innovative studies in such areas are essential, which are very much helpful in disease management.
