About This Special Issue
Nutrition and Animal Health. Many researchers are focused on animal nutrition, performances or how to obtain functional foods by improving the animal's diets with different new sources. Very few of them are aware that not only diet is the most important factor in animal nutrition, also the animal health is very important. This aspect must be taken into consideration, because some of the new diets created by the nutritionist, are indeed good sources that lead to obtain better performances from animals with some lowered prices, but at the same time they could harm the animals. By using wastes, meals or different essential oils from other alimentary products or plants (also known as residues, by-products, etc.) it is possible to obtain functional foods like eggs, meat or milk. Some of these wastes helps to obtain functional foods but at the same time they could affect the animal health. It is very important to think at the health of animals not only at the nutrition because both are interrelated. Some researchers have published already results from trials where they have specified already that in different levels some wastes/meals had affected the health of the animal, while others have ignored this aspect. In this special issue I would like to invite researchers to publish papers (own research, reviews, case study) that are related to this topic.
