About This Special Issue
Crop production under rain-fed conditions in Sub-Saharan Africa is highly constrained by variable rainfall, frequent droughts and low water productivity (Barros et al.,2014). The frequent occurrences of long intra-seasonal dry spells have the potential to cause a dramatic reduction in crop yields, As a result food insecurity and the overall livelihood crisis of the smallholder farmer are the major problem in lease developing countries (Teja et al.,2012).Therefore, there is an urgent need to adopt climate-smart technologies that would increase the quantity of water required for crop growth in regions where rainfall amounts are low and erratic (Critchley and Gowing, 2012). So study focusing on developing, promoting efficient rainwater harvesting, and conservation techniques that would enhance crop productivity on smallholder farms are very crucial.
Study on this issue is very hot topic in today’s world. Especially in sub-Saharan Africa countries. Due to the existence of chronic food shortage.
The purpose of the special issue is to evaluate the economic performance that is (Profitability, investment and sensitivity analysis) of rainwater harvesting and conservation technologies. This study will use Crosse sectional data and basically focus on short duration crops.
Aims and Scope:
  1. Rainwater Harvesting
  2. Conservation Technology
  3. Profitability, Potato Productivity
  4. Investment and Sensitivity Analysis
