Hands-on Learning Technique for Multidisciplinary Engineering Education

About This Special Issue
According to the nature of modern technology, engineering students need to understand the multidisciplinary nature of engineering problems. This learning approach is important to provide students with experience in developing technical, management and work-team skills. One of the problems that many engineering graduates face when looking for their first job is: do you have experience? Employers prefer graduates with relevant experience to those without. Why is experience so important to employers? Can students accumulate “working” experience while studying in college? Thus, it is important to use design projects inside and outside of classrooms to help students gain “working” experience and skills through hands-on design activities that simulate the actual design activities that occur in the industry. This special issue aims to help students understand the multidisciplinary nature of product design and the concurrent engineering approach, as well as to provide them with experience in developing technical skills, management skills and collaborative skills, hands-on product design projects are very important for students to gain theses skills.
