About This Special Issue
Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries are among most common injuries in sport. The time and money costs of this injury is high and its incidence is growing. Although its causes and treatments is well studied, there are controversies regarding the mechanisms and treatment protocols. Therefore, this issue will be concerned about mechanisms, prevalence, prevention, and treatment of ACL injuries. Also understanding the risk factors for ACL disruption is important for determining who is at increased risk for suffering this severe knee injury and developing intervention programs to mitigate risk. It will also be focused on strategies for implementing injury-prevention programs in community settings and took a critical look at the strengths and limitations of motion-capture systems and how we might continue to refine our research approaches to increase the relevance and influence of our biomechanical research, respectively. We hope that these proceedings will continue to foster quality research and clinical interventions.
