Abstract: As a part of the national survey to evaluate some strategic elements such as U, Mn, Fe and Cu we have undertaken a quantitative study to fulfill this target. Twenty sediment samples were collected from Abu Rusheid Area in South Eastern desert of Egypt. The concentrations of radium-226 and thorium-232 were determined by direct counting using a hyper pure germanium (HPGe) detector interfaced with a multi-channel analyzer (MCA) .The obtained results showed that the specific activity of 226Ra ranged from 65.71±16 to 208.2±20 Bq/kg and 232Th from 27.14±8.69 to 206.89±40.1 Bq/kg while 40K from 127.73 to 443.84 Bq/kg. These values are higher than the international recommended levels. The radium equivalent activity (Raeq), the absorbed dose rate (D), the external hazard index (Hex), the annual effective dose equivalent (AEDE) and the representative level index (Iγr) were also calculated and compared with the international recommended values. Additionally, X-ray fluorescence analysis for soil sample has been performed and considerable concentrations of Al, Fe, Mn and Zn has been found.

Abstract: The bondage between the long range elementary forces and the short range three planetary forces is called unified force. ‘Every particle feels the force of gravity according to its mass or energy’ (Hawking, 1996). ‘So the long range forces have appeal to the short range three planetary forces in inertia mass of the earth. The long range virtual particles discharging from the sun induce to the three matter forces of inertia of mass of the earth and the short range three matter forces sustain that force in their own way and thus results in unified force’-(Tajuddin and Biswas, 2015). ‘All the known particles in the universe can be divided into two groups: particles of spin ½, which make up the matter in the universe, and particles of spin 0, 1, and 2, which we shall see, give rise to forces between the matter particles’ ( Hawking, 1996). This unified force ‘that will describe everything in the universe’ (Hawking, 1996). But unified force will not combine all the partial theories of physics but it will bring all motions under the banner of unified force and spherical geometry as all motions are spherical in nature and all motions are alike. Thus motions have uniformity of spherical nature that creates unified force in all respect which is the ultimate goal of unification theory and unified force. (Vide: Present and previous articles published in AJPA).

Abstract: This study deals with the assessment of natural radioactivity due to 226Ra, 232Th and 40K in bottled drinking water samples, marketed in Bangladesh. High purity germanium (HPGe) detector based spectrometry system coupled with Multi Channel Analyzer (MCA) was used to obtain gamma-ray spectra. The mean concentrations of 226Ra, 232Th and 40K were found to be 3.28±2.10, 6.40±2.92 and 18.26±17.49 Bq.L-1 respectively. The committed effective doses due to ingestion of natural radionuclides from the consumption of bottled water for four different age groups were estimated. The annual cumulative effective doses due to all three natural radionuclides for different age groups of children (2–7 y), 7–12 y, 12–17 y and adults (>17 y) were estimated to be 1.54, 2.07, 3.41 and 1.83 mSv y-1 respectively. Among the three natural radionuclides, annual effective doses due to intake of 226Ra for age groups 7-12 y and 12-17y are significant. For children (2-7 y) and adults (>17 y), annual effective doses due to intake of 232Th are significant. The obtained results are compared with the reported and recommended values from other countries and international organizations respectively. However, annual estimated effective doses for all four age groups from the intake of natural radionuclides in bottled drinking water were higher than the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommended limit of 0.10 mSvy-1 as well as the average radiation dose of 0.29 mSvy-1 received per head worldwide due to ingestion of natural radionuclides assessed by UNSCEAR -2000.

Abstract: Some phosphate glass samples containing 30 mol% blast furnace slag (as iron industrial waste) and 20 mol% heavy metal oxides (cadmium and lanthanium) have been prepared by the melt quenching method. It was found that as La2O3 was gradually increased at the expense of CdO, gamma-ray attenuation coefficient increased while the half value layer decreased. Density and molar volume as well as the number of oxygen ion density increased gradually also. From the obtained data, it appeared that, these glasses act as suitable gamma-ray shield especially at high energies. The samples exhibit also semiconductor properties and have mixed conduction mechanisms of both CBH and SPH models. The electrical conductivity showed a decrease with the gradual increase of La2O3 content.

Abstract: Manganese sulfide (MnS) is known for its wide applications in solar cell, opto-electronic devices, and photochemical industries. The present study was designed to evaluate the effect of biofield energy treatment on the atomic and physical properties of MnS. The MnS powder sample was equally divided into two parts, referred as to be control and to be treated. The treated part was subjected to Mr. Trivedi’s biofield energy treatment. After that, both control and treated samples were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. The XRD data revealed that the biofield energy treatment has altered the lattice parameter, unit cell volume, density, and molecular weight of the treated MnS sample as compared to the control. The crystallite size on various planes was significantly changed from -50.0% to 33.3% in treated sample as compared to the control. The FT-IR analysis exhibited that the absorption band attributed to Mn-S stretching vibration was reduced from (634 cm-1) to 613 cm-1 in treated MnS as compared to the control. Besides, the ESR study revealed that g-factor was reduced by 3.3% in the treated sample as compared to the control. Therefore, the biofield energy treated MnS could be applied for the use in solar cell and semiconductor applications.

Abstract: The new approach to geometrization of electromagnetic field is suggested, where previous author’s results on geometrical interpretation of quantum objects are taken into account. These results can be considered as a justification for considering of spaces with higher dimensions for geometrization of electromagnetic field. Electromagnetic fields and potentials are considered here as components of torsion tensor in 5-dimensional affinely connected space where the usual 4-space-time is a pseudo-Euclidean hyperplane. Electromagnetic potentials and tensor of electromagnetic field are represented by different components of the torsion tensor as it should be for the notions of different physical meaning. Suggested geometrization is free of such disadvantages of the known 5-dimensional Kaluza’s theory as the absence of physical foundations for introduction of additional spatial dimensions and the lack of any relationship with quantum mechanics.

Abstract: The transmitted waves from the mobile phone tower were exposed to the human body and were penetrated into the body where the field was reduced exponentially with depth. In this paper penetration of high frequency electromagnetic waves emitted from a mobile phone tower into human muscle and bone tissues were studied. As the reduction in field was due to absorption of power, specific absorption rate was calculated at frequencies 800,900, 1800 and 2450 MHz and effective radiated power of 20 Watts.

Abstract: In this study, we considered the effect of generator exhaust fumes on air; a case study of Onitsha and the possible way of mitigating it using nano technology. 400 copies of questionnaire were randomly administered within Onitsha. The sample was chosen based on population. The issue of exhaust fume and the quantity of fuel products bought were discussed. The objective of this work was achieved through the following hypothesis: there is no significant difference in the effects of generator usage in Onitsha. This hypothesis was tested using Chi square. The result showed that there is significance difference in the effects of generator usage in Onitsha. Since, people resort to the use of generator because of the inadequate power supply by Power Holdings Corporation of Nigeria and generator usage affects environment, it was recommended that government should try to always ensure efficient and adequate supply of electric power from PHCN. To ensure proper protection of the environment and economic growth, the study also recommended that government should adopt better strategies like the use of less carbon fuel products, provision of alternative carbon sinks, encouragement of tree planting and replanting; promotion of the use of renewable and green energies and the promotion of grass root campaigns geared towards informing the masses on the implications of anthropogenic activities on the climate and the environment in general.
