Abstract: Attendance is an essential aspect of learning process in every tertiary institution. Attendance taking in every class is a day to day activity in a tertiary institutions and organisations. The traditional ways of taken the student attendance by signing of papers or calling of students name in the class is also time consuming and unconfident. The contemporary academic procedure of repeating or calling names of student in a class attendance compete a substantial role in eminence of teaches and performance evaluation of the students. The administration of the attendance may also lead to enormous problem if administer manually. This paper intends to design attendance monitoring system using artificial intelligent. To solve the problem of attendance in class, camera will be used for capturing faces of student individually; recognize each student and update the database accordingly. Face geometry algorithm, features invariant and machine learning based methods will be applied to solve the problem. Extraction and pre-processing of face region is conducted for advanced processing. Resizing and extraction of face image involves histogram equalization and pre-processing. The image contrast is improved and clearer, since the image intensity is stretches.

Abstract: Controllability problems of differential equations appear in many situations or phenomena for which one is interested in finding a mechanism for bringing a given state into a desired one. Their resolutions often involve constrained minimization problems governed by differential equations systems. This paper is particularly interested in a null controllability problem for backward differential equations systems. One develop a numerical scheme by first approximating the control space by a space of piecewise continuous functions and by transforming the controllability problem into a classical minimization problem with constraints in finite dimension space. Next, one proceed to an adapted implementation of the numerical scheme in Matlab using some of its built-in functions. One then construct a sequence of codes written in Matlab allowing to robustly compute an approximation of the null control at a lower cost. To validate the numerical approach adopted in this paper, two numerical examples are presented. The first ones concerns the controllability of a backward ordinary differential quations system and the second, the controllability of a partial differential heat equation. In both cases, the numerical results obtained are very satisfactory and show that the numerical approach with Matlab developed in this paper leads to new insights for a large class of PDE control problems.

Abstract: In order to study the vulnerability of the European express train transport network, statistics were made on the countries and cities along the route. The two methods of intentional attack are to study the changes of the network characteristic values, such as the average degree of the network, the proportion of isolated nodes, the average path length, and the network efficiency. Under the deliberate attack, the node average degree, aggregation coefficient, network efficiency, and average path length of the China-Europe train network decrease rapidly with the increase of the attack ratio and decrease to 0. Under random attack, the average node degree, network efficiency, and average path length of the network show a slow decreasing trend with the increase of the attack ratio, and the aggregation coefficient increases slowly and then decreases. The isolated node is no longer connected to other nodes under the deliberate attack and random attack, so the attacked node is the isolated point, which increases the cardinality of the isolated node. The research shows that the China Railway Express network is relatively strong when subjected to random attacks, and relatively vulnerable when subjected to deliberate attacks. At the same time, it is found that some nodes in the China Railway Express play an important role in the connectivity of the network.

Abstract: Examination is an important aspect of teaching and learning process in colleges of education in Nigeria. Therefore, to conduct examination for courses involving large number of students is a major challenge. The adoption of the use of relevant technology tools in recent times have made a way out of this challenge. Hence, this study examined the effect of Computer Based Test (CBT) examination on learning outcome of colleges of education students in Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was adopted and two research questions guided the work. The population was made up of 2112 NCE students and lecturers in the School of Education, Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo. The work sampled 10% of the population of the study that is 211, comprising 200 students and 11 lecturers selected through random sampling technique. The instrument for data collection was structured questionnaire developed by the researchers. The instrument was validated by two experts in the field of evaluation and measurement in Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo. Cronbach Alpha method was used to determine the reliability of the instrument and it was estimated at 0.75 which was considered reliable enough for the study. The findings of this study revealed the challenges militating against CBT examination on learning outcome of colleges of education students in Nigeria, among which are lack of ICT practical knowledge by lecturers assigned to supervise CBT examination, visually impaired students complained of unclear voice, some physically handicapped students could not use mouse, erratic power supply during CBT examination couple with high cost of diesel for alternative source of power and time duration allotted affect some students who are not that versatile with the use of mouse and keyboard. Furthermore, some benefits of CBT examination on learning outcome of colleges of education students in Nigeria are stated. Based on the findings, it was recommended that lecturers to supervise CBT examination should be practically good in the use of computers in order to be able to attend to minor issues that may arise during the examination.
