Abstract: Background: Eating habits refers to why and how people eat, which foods they eat and with whom they eat, as well as the ways people obtain, store, use and discard food. Objectives: The objectives of this study are to assess the anthropometric indices of adolescents in Bayelsa State, their food choices, eating habits and the factors affecting their food selections. Methods: A simple random sampling technique was used to select 500 adolescents from ten Secondary Schools in three Local Government Areas of Bayelsa State. Students were selected from the Senior Secondary School Classes (from SSS 1 to 3). A well structured and validated questionnaire was used to obtain information on the adolescents’ food choices and eating habits. Anthropometric measurements of weight and height were carried out using standard procedures. Information obtained was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS Version 20) to provide descriptive information (percentages, mean± SD) for all the study variables. The relationship between food choices and nutritional status and eating habits and nutritional status were tested using p-value at 5% level of significance Results: Results show that 11.4% of the adolescents were under weight, 87.4% were of normal weight and then 0.8% were overweight. Few of the respondents reported that availability, accessibility and convenience affect their families eating habits and food choices, while 5% reported that family religion affect their eating habits. Also the result of the correlation analysis is that the coefficient of correlation is -0.120, this indicates an inverse very low relationship between the adolescents’ food choices and eating habits. Conclusion: The study revealed that the factors affecting the food selection of the respondents were the family’s income, peer groups, food likes, food dislikes and parental control. Also, that taste, texture, appearance and the smell of food are responsible for some of the respondent’s food selections while cost of food affects. Also, opinion that their food selections were affected by convenience and the time for food preparation Few (2%) of the respondents indicated that their body image affect their food selection and 4.6% were of the opinion that their religion affects their food selection. Culture also affects 5.6% of the respondent’s food selections.

Abstract: This is a qualitative research study that descriptively discovered the effects of teachers’ attitudes on students’ English speaking anxiety, which was being addressed by determining the teachers’ attitudes towards students in terms of their English speaking performance and English speaking anxiety, and students’ feelings about their teachers’ attitudes during their English speaking performance. An interview questionnaire comprised of open-ended questions was utilized to interview the 15 student and 6 teacher participants of this study, who are currently connected from the two prestigious universities in Kerala. The interview findings revealed the following effects of instructors' attitudes on students' English speaking anxiety: Teachers' student-friendly approach and interactive instructional strategies can alleviate students' English speaking anxiety, and teachers as stern and firm monitors of students' language use make students more aware of themselves, which drives them to be extensively scared of committing mistakes and not meeting their teachers’ expectations. Out from the gathered verbal data and results, this study concluded that teachers are indeed major determinants of students’ English speaking anxiety. Teachers' shown behavioural and instructional attitudes have a major role in increasing students' anxiety and apprehension in utilising the target language orally, which has an impact on their English speaking performance.

Abstract: Computed Tomography (CT) has been one of the most used exams for radiologic diagnostic in medicine. The increase in CT scans is a global concern due to the increase in radiation doses in the population. The head CT scans helps to diagnose disorders that affect the brain, including tumors, infarction, bleeding within the brain, hematoma, and other diseases. The aim of this work is to verify the reduction of absorbed dose in patients in head CT scans with the use of bismuth shielding and positioning with the head tilted. An anthropomorphic male phantom model CIRS ATOM 701 were used to perform the head CT scans, from the cervical vertebra C1 to the top of skull, in a Toshiba CT scanner, Prime Aquillion model with 80 channels. Radiochromic film strips were used to evaluate the doses in the organs such as lenses, thyroid, hypophysis, spinal cord, breasts and salivary glands. Three head CT scans were performed, with the phantom in supine position, using the same acquisition protocol, with and without bismuth shielding and with the head tilted without the bismuth shielding. The results of these experiments showed absorbed doses ranging from 0.66 to 47.16 mGy. The highest dose of 47.16 mGy were in the lenses without bismuth shielding and with bismuth shielding was 33.01 mGy. Also, the dose with the head tilted was 20.42 mGy. The recorded doses were lower with the head tilted for all organs, mainly in the lenses. The analysis of noise in the image of the head central slice presented acceptable values for soft tissues, less than 1%.

Abstract: Neoliberal work has been absolutely brilliant and was created with people with a purpose that is the reason why it managed to have such a huge audience. Additionally neoliberalism is the powerful and dominant ideology shaping the world today, as we are living in an age of neoliberalism with its emphasis on transferable and flexible skills on curricula. Critics on the other hand, including feminist economists have mentioned that the theory negates social and environment responsibility, other researchers also argue that neoliberalism benefits advanced nations when they invest abroad. Thus, neoliberalism is taken to be a major obstacle to democracy in that it reduces social regulation and actively frustrates policy initiatives in several areas like, the expansion of literacy and education and health care programs, which require the role of the public sector. However, the goal of this research is to find out if neoliberalism is influencing the teaching of economics. The research employed a qualitative research method through the use of interviews. Interview data revealed that neoliberalism is not a problem; the problem is inequality which needs to be dealt with. It is recommended that more research is needed on how to generate economic growth without widening the gap between the rich and the poor not to fight against neoliberalism principles. The other suggestion is to identify a problem and bring a solution rather than concentrating on criticisms. Therefore, research should be geared towards addressing problems which are hindering economic growth.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between financial reporting and organizational performance in Nigeria. Data was collected from ten Nigerian manufacturing companies. The researcher adopted expo facto research method in this study. The study adopted inferential statistics for panel data analysis. Results revealed that financial reporting has significant effect on organization performance (R2 = 0.006, t= 4.145 and p = 0.001) of selected manufacturing companies in Nigeria. The study concluded that a financial accounting report is a verifiable document through which a corporate organization's condition and performance may be assessed. As a result, the study recommend the directors who are responsible for drafting this financial report in the traditional sense should ensure that it is prepared in accordance with best international practices. However, since this study has proved that both variables have a considerable influence on each other, management of publicly traded firms must propose new tactics to improve their financial reporting quality in order to dramatically boost their profit. Also, stakeholders and potential investors in publicly traded companies should be suspicious of any changes in the value of return on assets, because financial reporting quality has a direct impact on the variable, which in turn affects profit value.

Abstract: Legume crops play great role in improving households’ food security and generating income for smallholder farmers. This study was tried to investigate the variation among farmers on the adoption and intensity of groundnut production technology in the Kondala district. Two stages sampling procedure were followed to select the sample households for the study. Four rural kebeles were selected from ten groundnut producing kebeles by using simple random sampling. Primary data collected from 185 sample selected households. Both key informant interview and focus group discussions were used to generate qualitative data. In addition, secondary data were collected from relevant sources. The data have been analyzed by descriptive statistics. Qualitative data narration was used to triangulate survey responses. The result of the descriptive statistics showed that the majority of farmers 57.3% were adopters and the remaining 42.7% were non adopters. This study also identifies groundnut production technologies such as recommended seeding rate, recommended fertilizer applications, land allocation and spacing among adopters and non-adopters and there was statistical significance difference in technology usage between adopters and non-adopters. Results of the descriptive statistics indicated that household ages, education level, farm experience, membership in cooperatives, access to agricultural inputs, participation in non-farm activities and frequency of extension contact were positively and significantly influenced the adoption of groundnut technologies. Whereas, distance from market center showed, negative relationship with the adoption of groundnut production technology. The overall finding of the study underlined high importance of institutional support in the areas of extension; membership in cooperatives and market to enhance adoption of improved groundnut production package. Therefore, policy and development interventions should give emphasis to improvement of such institutional support so as to achieve wider adoption which increased the productivity and income of smallholder farmers.
