Abstract: Buildings are susceptible to completing the service life after their long usage. However, early completion of building service life is always been a challenge to the construction industry and warrants a thorough analysis. India has enormous scope for building adaptation that is built in the modern era due to various factors such as completion of service life, the demand for functional changes, carbon footprint reduction, and strengthening resilience. All the above reasons can be improved by adopting the method of building adaptation of the existing old buildings. To know the need and degree of the building adaptation the factors both quantitative and qualitative are to be analyzed to know the BAP (Building Adaptation Potential) of a building before making a decision for a project. The methodology adopted in the paper is a survey of existing buildings and identifying the key factors to make a decision on adoption potential. The weighted mean has been identified to showcase the significance of each factor.

Abstract: Land degradation is a major constraint to sustainable agricultural development in Ethiopia. This study was designed to investigate the effect of bench terrace on selected soil physical and chemical properties in Andit Tid watershed, North Shewa Zone. A total of 90 soil samples (2 treatments*3 replication of sample plot *5consecutive terraces* 3 position/zones:-(loss, middle Deposition zone) were collected from 0-20cm depth. Separate soil samples for bulk density determination were collected based on similar sampling design. Results showed that textural fractions of sand and silt (p=0.001), and soil pH (p=0.027) showed significant variation with treatments while variations in clay, SOM, bulk density, and CEC were not significant. Sand fraction was higher in soils under non-terraced while silt and soil pH were higher under terraced farmland. Soil moisture content showed significant variation (p=0.021) with position: higher at the deposition than the rest positions. Although not significant clay, SOM, and CEC values were found to be higher under farmland with terraces than the non-terraced. This indicated that terrace cultivated lands have improved aggregate stability and good moisture content and non terrace cultivated land have low pore space, low water holding capacity and organic matter content than terrace cultivated land. The higher mean moisture content on deposition zone could be related to the downward movement of clay fractions through erosion. Generally, terracing has a remarkable role in improving soil physical and chemical properties. In addition both terraced and non-terraced cultivated land also required integrated SWC measure for better result. Additional research need to be conducted on the effect of soil properties considering other variables like biological measure and other physical structures.

Abstract: The objective of this paper is to look at how Kenyan companies that are both sustainable and show signs of growth have fared in terms of the impact on the economy and as employment opportunities. It focuses on companies that are listed in the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) and that have proved successful in terms of growth in their annual returns over a five-year period. They were purposively selected, were analyzed by looking at the official views and reflections of the principal manager of the company or the chair of the board of directors within a specified time frame. This is an exploratory study to separate listed profitable highly growing firms that operate within a developing economy and to recognise within them traits and/or characteristics that are common to them. Describing these firms and highlighting common features will help explain to some extent why they have been successful and that these practices, features and/or attributes could be embraced by other firms in their pursuit to become more successful and viable. The background of this study is the status of Kenyan firms’ financial wellbeing and their interactions with the activities of the securities market in Kenya. The study used an exploratory research approach, which is also called quasi-experimental research where researchers can conclude the cause-effect equation between two or more variables, where one variable is dependent on the other independent variable. The main aim being to look at how Kenyan firms that are both successful and are growing have progressed in terms of the impact on the economy and on employment opportunities. It focuses on firms that are listed in the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) and that have shown success in terms of growth in their annual returns over a five-year period. They were purposively selected, were analysed by looking at the official views and reflections of the principal managers of the firm or the chair of the board of directors within a specified time frame. The research concluded that high levels of education, prior industry experience and entrepreneurial experience are paramount for growth and performance of firms that were included in the present study. This important aspect applied to both the executive directors as well as to members of the full board of directors of the said firms.

Abstract: The notion of a persistent leading within societies, where revolutions merely result in shifts of leadership rather than substantial societal transformations, is a subject of profound relevance in the complicated socio-political landscape of contemporary Nigeria. This study ventures into the heart of this concept, using Nigeria's complex terrain as a compelling lens through which to examine its applicability. Nigeria is a nation marked by enduring challenges, including pervasive corruption, stark economic disparities, and relentless power struggles. These issues persist despite repeated changes in leadership, raising pertinent questions about the underlying structures that perpetuate elite influence. By carefully analyzing instances from Nigerian society that exemplify the resilience of elites, even in the face of revolutionary shifts in power, this study underscores the enduring relevance of this debate. It also investigates the multifaceted contributors to this phenomenon, delving into the role of institutional frameworks, deeply ingrained cultural nuances, and the formidable obstacles that hinder meaningful societal transformation. Through this comprehensive exploration, the research not only enhances our understanding of the intricate interplay between leadership upheavals and the entrenched structures upholding elite power but also illuminates the complex dynamics that continue to shape the evolution of contemporary Nigerian society. Ultimately, it prompts a critical examination of the prospects for genuine societal change in a nation where revolutions have often yielded superficial rather than substantive transformations.

Abstract: This field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of different levels of poultry manure and inorganic nitrogen (N) source on the yield and yield components of onion (Alium cepa L.). The treatments were four levels of poultry manure (0, 10, 20, 30t/ha) and four levels of inorganic sources of N fertilizers (0, 70, 80, 90kg/ha) was applied uniformly 16 treatments and one absolute control in a factorial randomized complete block design with three replications. The organic and inorganic sources of nutrients significantly affected most of the yield and yield parameters. Accordingly, plant height, leaf number, leaf length, leaf weight, root weight, total bulb weight, mean bulb weight, bulb diameter, harvesting index, and dry bulb weight were significantly influenced by poultry manure, and plant height, leaf number, leaf length, leaf weight, root weight, total bulb weight, mean bulb weight, bulb diameter, harvesting index, and dry bulb weight were significantly affected by the N fertilizer. Combined use of 20t/ha poultry manure and 80kg N/ha significantly improved most of the yield and yield components of the onion. Highest TBW (20.57t/ha) was also obtained from plots receiving 20t/ha manure and 80kgN while the least TBW was obtained from the control plot and the rate near to it. Most of the yield related parameters were positively correlated with MBW and TBW. However, this one season study has to be conducted across seasons and locations of similar agro-ecology, soil type and crop management in order to draw firm conclusions and make final recommendation.
