Abstract: The main idea of the invention is to use a long flying pipeline to deliver water to a forest fire. Another use could be to irrigate large areas in emergency situations. Our solution to transfer water with an airborne pipeline is several thousand times more efficient. A typical 16-inch plastic pipe gives a water flow of s 7281 m3 per hour or 2427 times more water on target than the helicopter. The general functionality of the invention is very simple. The water is elevated from the basin with the pumping station through the long pipeline. It finally ejects water from the pipeline endpoint to the forest fire. The crucial difference is that the pipeline flies above the hills hanging from hundreds of drones. The above pipe needs a special pump. The pump lies at the inner surface of the pipe, it is very small and there are more than one in every meter of the pipe. The airborne pipeline is under pre-alpha test today waiting for the final European Patent Office approval. However the coaxial pipe inner booster is a very innovative approach that is not limited to airborne pipeline use. Our ambitious are far to replace the traditional pump withits unique smoothly operation. Of course serious mathematical modelling is necessary before to proceed to the next pre alpha step (or test).

Abstract: The study was conducted at Abeshege Woreda to analyze the market chain of red pepper. The area is known for its surplus production of agricultural commodities. However, market chain of agricultural crops in general and red pepper in particular is not well understood. The study has duly focused on the structure and conduct, market participants and performance of red pepper markets. The data were generated by structured questionnaire, focus group discussions, key informant interviews and field observation. This was augmented by secondary data collected from the BoARD, Woreda marketing agency reports and websites. Quantity of pepper passed through different marketing agents from farmers to consumers. The Farmers-Collectors-Wholesalers-Processors-Consumers channel carried the largest volume, which is 35.7% of the total volume followed by Farmers-Wholesalers-Processors-Consumers channel which carried about 27.6% of the total red pepper marketed. Structure of pepper market indicates four-firm Concentration Ratio (CR4), that is, the share of the largest four traders in the total volume of pepper purchased. The four largest traders handled 35.32% of the total volume of purchased pepper. This suggested that the pepper market in Abeshege Woreda shows a weak oligopolistic market. In relation to the conduct of pepper market, pricing mechanism of the farmers indicated that 13.29% of farmers set their selling price. Cheating was very common in pepper marketing by manipulating weighing scale and adulteration. Regarding payment strategy, about 74.68% of sample farmers sold their product on cash. Traders took a total of 61.3% out of the total profit margin. Red pepper producers added 38.7% of the total value of red pepper in the Woreda. The Total Gross Marketing Margin is highest in Farmers- processors- Consumers (62.1%) followed by Farmers-Retailer –processors- Consumers (55.4%). Therefore, the development of pepper producers’ bargaining power through cooperatives is the best measure that should target at reducing the oligopolistic market structure and increases pepper production in the Woreda pepper markets.

Abstract: Following the rebasing of Nigeria’s economy, it now occupies the topmost position in Africa. However, this feat can be attributed to a large to revenues accruing to it from crude oil exploitation, since Nigeria is a mono-product economy. The states in the Niger Delta have the largest concentrations of these oil deposits. Expectedly, this is supposed to translate into economic prosperity for these “fortunate” states and communities. Sadly, the reverse is the case. There have been cries of marginalization, environmental pollution, climate change, unemployment, prevalence of sicknesses and diseases due to the activities of crude oil exploitation in these oil producing communities. It is against this backdrop that this study was conducted. Orogun community was selected as a case study because of its prominence in the comity of oil producing communities in Delta State, and also for the fact that despite its enormous contributions to Nigeria’s GDP, very little or no research has been conducted to ascertain the negative impact of oil exploration on its socio-economic life. The study identified that the activities of crude oil exploration companies are impacting negatively on the development of the community. Farmlands have been rendered infertile, thereby hampering agricultural output and productivity. Rivers and streams have been polluted as a result of oil spillage, leading to the reduction in the availability of fishes and other aquatic products, resulting in untold hardships being experienced by the indigent populace. In order to ameliorate the situation, this paper recommends that a proper legislation and a regulatory framework guiding the operations of the oil exploration companies should be put in place. In addition to that state interventionist agency, DESOPADEC, should be rejigged and made to be more alive to its responsibilities.

Abstract: Nigeria had over the years depended on oil and gas reserves for economic growth and development. With the dwindling oil prices, economic growth of Nigeria has been depressed. However, the focus of this research was to examine Oil and Gas reserves and economic growth in Nigeria. Specifically, this paper determined the relationship between oil export and economic growth in Nigeria for a period of 35 years (1981 - 2015). Secondary data were obtained from CBN statistical bulletin. Multiple regression analysis was used to determine the relationship of oil and gas revenue; oil and gas export; exchange rate and economic growth proxy by Real Gross Domestic Product (RGDP). Also, Stepwise regression was employed to isolate the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable. The result of the data analysis showed that oil and gas export and exchange rate have a positive relationship with economic growth while oil and gas revenue is negatively related to RGDP. It was recommended among others that Security should be put in the high sea where crude oil products are usually smuggled; this will help to reduce the loss from illegal export of crude oil products from Nigeria. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) should diversify its export baskets through downstream production; this will enhance the refining of petroleum products for exports.
