Abstract: Financing for acquiring assets in Greek agribusiness sector is very common and supports Greek agribusiness sme’s production. Purpose of this study is the comparative analysis of leasing's evaluation as a method of financing in order to acquire assets used directly in the production process of a business of secondary Greek agribusiness sector or even vertically integrated business. Thus, research was held in April of 2006 and December of 2012, collecting proper data from Greek banking sector and considering Tax Legislation. Decision for the selection of the financial practices in the event of such an investment should be made after taking into consideration several factors. Proper financial evaluation of future investment is necessary, while it’s too necessary to be compared the financing choices that are given in Greece. Considering Tax Legislation, Banking Practices, and Law on Leasing, financing methods were compared in two different reference periods, before and during Greek economic crisis. Avoiding generalizations, typical examples are given, showing that leasing preceded against borrowing, considering conditions prevailing in Greece at these two reference periods. But decision making for selection of financing method is affected by factors, which may lead to either correct or incorrect conclusions for firm’s interests, if evaluation is not correct or there are personal interests of decision-makers in the administration. Consequently, incentives to use leasing for financing a business can be a lot, but quite important are ownership structure, nature of investment opportunities, business risk and tax status.

Abstract: The emphasis of many researches on women empowerment in Nigeria is on education and their marginalization in the work place but not many has looked into the entrepreneurship as a form of empowerment and the current situation of women in business in terms of empowerment. This research work tries to identify the prospects and challenges of women empowerment in small businesses, and this is achieved by identifying various empowerment factors available to them and how entrepreneurship is affective their role as a woman. A quantitative research approach that uses enquiry method to collect data from target respondent (Business women in Damaturu local government, Yobe state of Nigeria) was used. Regression analysis was applied to the 50 questionnaire collected using the Statistical packages for Social Sciences (SPSS). The result showed that women entrepreneurs are not aware of government programs available to help their businesses and they lack support from financial institutions as their support is mainly from informal sources. We also conclude that entrepreneurship has a negative effect on women private lives as most of them work round the clock without taking any break but the good news is that a sizeable proportion of the respondents claimed to vote regularly indicating a form of empowerment as it allows them to have their say in national development. This study therefore recommended government support in the form of finance, awareness programmes, infrastructural development, better security for businesses and enabling environment to help the women achieve their full potentials.

Abstract: Now a days-learning is gaining popularity in many universities world wide. A successful e learning implementation mostly depends on understanding its needs as well as willingness of all stakeholders in particular e-learning environment. In a developing country like Bangladesh, e-learning is not widely used by many institutions as such students are unaware of the benefits of using e-learning. This study has been conducted with the aim of identifying the key influencing factors affecting e- learning adoption in Bangladesh. A total number of 180 students were selected randomly, and provided with structured questionnaires after conducting couple of FGDs(focused grouped discussion) and in depth interviews in a classroom environment. SPSS software was used to conduct reliability test and factor analyses. The study found that the e-learning platforms are useful, but not an easy way to adopt in Bangladesh. The pitfall can be overcome by providing intensive training in order to improve the limit of knowledge and skills of students in Bangladesh.

Abstract: A default risk is the risk that a person or an organization will fail to make a payment that they have promised. There are many models that help us to analyze credit risk, such as Default Probability, Loss Given Default, and Migration Risk. All these models are important for evaluating credit risk, but the most important factor is the Probability of Default that is mentioned in this paper. This paper uses the Black Scholes formula for European call option to find the probability default of a firm. How d2 in Black schools model became the probability default of a Merton model. Merton model is the structural model because it is using firm’s value to inform the probability of firms default and here we are going to show the relationship between Black Scholes European call option and the probability of default of a firm. The main aim of this paper is to describe the factor that affects the default probability default using Black Scholes model for European Call option by the help of some examples.

Abstract: The practice of making payments before, in exchange of, during or after the marriage of an individual, especially women, in traditional weddings or formal marriages, is generally characterized as marriage settlement, consisting of dowry and bride-wealth. In the past, determination of the amount, schedule, and the acceptance of payment of marriage settlement was considered a way of cementing relations between families and often communities, bestowing stature depending on the amount. These payments were thought to primarily serve as “appreciation” towards the bride’s family, but also served the function of insurance in the event of the loss of the husband; a means of providing for the widow and surviving children. In some agrarian communities, they were also seen as a way of compensating the bride’s family for loss of labor. The advent of western contact with African countries for the most part had no effect on the payment of marriage settlements, despite families entering new economic and production activities. Why did the payment of marriage settlements continue, despite the change in income-generating activities? In western society, the importance of marriage settlements gradually declined with industrialization: a comparative trajectory should be expected amongst rural, agrarian Bantu communities as they transition (ed) from pre-industrial societies. However, despite entering the globalized era and new social and economic models increasingly divorced from agrarian activities, marriage settlements and the attendant ceremonies continue to be a valued and prevalent cultural phenomenon. What explains continued attraction to and of marriage settlements even in this industrialized era? This research asserts that a) marriage settlements serve an economic rather than their hitherto cultural function; b) that daughters are a wealth and heritage transmission mechanism, and c) that globalization has only affected the form, not the philosophy of marriage settlements. Marriage settlement is a culturally-informed, significant residual constraint to women economic empowerment within (re)production economic structures. These structures facilitate women disenfranchisement through class, gender and socio-cultural and traditions.

Abstract: Solid waste generation is an increasing global problem. The problem is more pronounced in developing countries due to experienced budget constraints and lack of strong institutions in the management of waste collections and disposals. Local government authorities in Tanzania have made efforts to ensure proper solid waste management especially in urban areas. Despite these initiatives solid waste management is still a key environmental problem in most urban areas of the country. This may be due to non-inclusion of household preferences on solid waste management when designing solid waste management services. A Choice Experiment Method was used in this study to determine household preferences on solid waste management services in order to design sustainable solid waste management services in Kinondoni municipality. The results showed that both low and high income households in Kinondoni Municipality prefer solid waste management services. The mostly preferred solid waste management service attributes were frequency of solid waste collection and use of vehicles while provision of polythene bags attribute was not preferred by households. The findings showed that are high variations in household preferences for solid waste management services caused mainly by socio-economic characteristics such as income. In order to improve solid waste management in Kinondoni municipality, policy makers and solid waste management service providers should incorporate household preferences on solid waste management services when designing these services.

Abstract: The study sought to assess the role of government economic regulations on petroleum supply chain management by surveying oil marketing companies in Kenya. The researchers used mixed research design. A field survey was carried out while purposive sampling was used to select 180 respondents from thirsty six (36) oil marketing companies located in Nairobi city involved in importation and marketing of oil products in Kenya. Primary data was collected through a questionnaire. Data was quantitatively analyzed using statistical package for social scientists (SPSS) for descriptive statistics and inferential while Analysis of Moment Structure Software (AMOS) was used for structural equation modeling. The study findings indicate that there was a positive relationship (regression weight = 0.47) between government economic regulations and Petroleum Supply Chain Management. The researchers therefore recommend implementation of government economic regulations by OMCs and ERC to be proactive to ensure fully compliance. There is also need for participation of all stakeholders in the development of policies that will ensure sustainable petroleum supply chain management. It is expected that the study will be of great importance to the management of oil marketing companies, policy makers, suppliers, consumers and the government. These are major stakeholders in the petroleum downstream sector.
