Abstract: Eucalyptus globulus is the most economically important and the most commonly cultivated exotic tree species in the Chelia District. However, we have limited knowledge on quantitative estimation of Eucalyptus contribution to the communities’ livelihoods, and perception of factors currently drives its expansion. The main objectives of the present research were to measure the quantitative economic contribution of Eucalyptus to the communities’ livelihoods and to investigate factors that currently contribute to its expansion. We used a mixed-method approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative techniques. Data were collected using semi-structured survey questionnaires. A multiple linear regression model was used. The weighted mean score was used to analyze the perceptions of factors that currently contribute to Eucalyptus expansion. We surveyed the contribution of E.globulus to local communities; perception of factors that contributes to its expansion; the reason why respondents preferred Eucalyptus to other tree species, and respondents’ points of view on the current and future potential Eucalyptus expansion. Our results show that Eucalyptus income makes up 87% of the total households’ income, while agricultural income makes up 13%. The results also reveal that income source is the most factor that currently contributes to Eucalyptus expansion. Our analysis explained that the reason why respondents preferred Eucalyptus to other tree species are high-income return, suitable for building and firewood, short-rotation, and requires less management. We have confirmed that most of the livelihood’s income was generated from Eucalyptus income, and local communities are highly dependent on Eucalyptus activity. The findings of our research have important implications for managers and policymakers.

Abstract: The giant stride of the Central Bank of Nigeria in development financing is receiving serious commendation locally and internationally. However, the need to identify major target areas of intervention remains major research concerns in terms of constraints and challenges of businesses in Nigeria. This study therefore was aimed at identifying major business constraints in Nigeria. The stratified random sample of 1070 small, medium and large manufacturing and non-manufacturing firms in all 36 states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was used for the study. The study found that lack of technical know-how constitutes about 37.4% of business constraints in Nigeria, followed by unfavorable business climate contributing about 12.3% and access to finance constituting about 6.5%. Based on these findings, the study recommends more intervention in the area of technical know-how in terms of material input, equipment and labour related concerns. Improving policies as well as political system in the country will further improve business survival in Nigeria. Further studies may be required to determine other business constraints bedeviling Nigerian businesses that were not captured in this study.

Abstract: The study is primarily aimed at determining whether the introduction of Treasury Single Account (TSA) minimizes fraud perpetration in Nigeria with particular reference to federal MDAs in Sokoto. To achieve this, Questionnaires were administered to selected federal MDAs in Sokoto State. A sample of 252 staff was arrived at using Taro Yamane’s (1967) sampling formula out of a total population of 4393. Descriptive (Mean and Standard deviation) and Inferential (Correlation and Multiple Regression) were employed to analyze the data collected. The result from the analysis revealed that the introduction of TSA has contributed immensely to minimizing fraud perpetration, blocking revenue leakage leading to consolidation of government cash balances in the country. This was evident from the significant p-value of 0.032 and a positive coefficient of 0.103 in respect of fraud perpetration against the independent variable (TSA). Also revealed was that the control variables (blocking revenue leakage and cash consolidation) alongside the independent variable account for about 42% variation of the dependent variable. In view of the above, the study concluded that TSA undoubtedly mitigates the perpetration of fraudulent activities in the public sector by ensuring accountability and transparency in the management of public finances. Base on the finding it is recommended that there is the need for massive enlightenment by regulatory bodies on the importance of implementing TSA by States and Local government. Also, there is the need for appropriate statutory backing on the implementation of TSA to ensure its effectiveness.

Abstract: Agriculture plays an important role in the economic growth and development prospects of a vast majority of developing countries including Rwanda. Grain legumes also serve as rotation crops with cereals, reducing soil pathogens and supplying nitrogen to the cereal crop. Food legume crops are considered vital crops for achieving food and nutritional security for both poor producers and consumers. One of the important legume crops grown in Rwanda is common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) which is the most priority crop occupying the largest arable land and consumed by majority of people. It is an important food legume for direct consumption as well as a source of farm income in Rwanda. The study was conducted in Burera district of Northern Province of Rwanda. A multistage sampling technique was employed in this study. Eighteen (18) farmers were randomly selected from each of the seven sectors making one hundred and twenty six (126) farmers do agriculture of common beans as commercial purpose as sample size. The main objective of the present study was to analyse the factors influencing the adoption of climbing beans and challenges of smallholder farmers in Rwanda. The results indicated that out of 126 respondents the majority were female. The findings indicated that, the majority of farmers grow their beans on less than 0.5ha. The results show that eight variables out of nine positively influence beans adoption while two variables negatively influence the adoption of climbing beans. The results show that land size, family size, high yield, educational level, off-farm income, output, price, farming experience, and extension services were significant in influencing adoption of climbing beans varieties. The results indicated that climbing beans produce up to three times more than the bush beans varieties. Many farmers mention staking as a major challenge to growing climbing beans. Afforestation, increasing agroforestry trees, adoption of poles and ropes, which can be used as staking materials, should be reinforced in study area. This will help to improve soil fertility through N-fixation, erosion control, environmental protection. Climbing bean residues complement animal feeds and organic manure production.

Abstract: The purpose of the article is to show the directions of development of the regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan by studying the methodological issues of assessing the role of family business in the service sector. A system of indicators to assess the role of family business in the development of the national economy, especially in the service sector, has also been developed. Using this methodology and on the basis of statistics from the Ministry of Mahalla and Family Support of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the State Statistics Committee, a rating of 17 regions of Samarkand region was formed. According to the results of the rating, the regions are characterized by the development of the service sector. This rating was based on the calculation of the integral index "Development of family entrepreneurship in the service sector", which is a set of various indicators that record the actual state of certain aspects of regional development. When compiling the rating, the set of indicators used was optimized and the method for calculating the integral index was improved. The results confirm that the role of family business in the development of the service sector is important. This is due to the fact that in areas where there are many family businesses, there is a growing trend in the service sector. Thus, it was concluded that there is a direct link between the development of family business and the growth of the service sector. The proposals developed on the basis of these findings were submitted to the Samarkand Regional Department of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction and the Center for Family Entrepreneurship Support.

Abstract: In the recent past, many state corporations in Kenya have been facing dismal performance trends, a situation that has derailed the sustainability of most of these crucial institutions. While some state corporations have been known to consistently perform well, others have been noted to perennially underperform, over rely on the exchequer, and lose viability in equal measure. Organizational structure is an essential element of any organization. Numerous studies conducted by scholars illustrate that, it is one of the most significant organizational elements in facilitating and increasing innovation, service delivery and performance in organizations. The role of organizational structure however has not been adequately addressed as far as performance of the state corporations is concerned and this study therefore sought to fill the existing gaps by assessing the relationship between organization structure and the performance of state corporations. The study purposed to establish the influence of organizational structure on the performance of state corporations in Kenya. The study reviewed organizational structure as the independent variable and performance of the state corporations as the dependent variable. The study performed a theoretical review of Contingency theory and the New Public Management (NPM) theory. This was followed by an empirical review in tandem with the purpose of this study. It provided a review of scholarly works done in the past identifying the studies, authors, areas of investigation and the findings reported. The study adopted a descriptive research design with an exploratory approach to collect data from 189 state corporations in Kenya. The unit of analysis was all the state corporations in Kenya while the unit of observation was the Heads of Human Resources in each corporation. The study used a sample of 96 state corporations and collected primary data using a self-administered questionnaire. Documentary review was also used to compliment the data collected. To get the most efficient representation of the population the study adopted stratified sampling and Cochran’s (1977) formula was applied to calculate the sample size of 95 Heads of Human Resources departments. The data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. SPSS Version 26 was used. The study concluded that organizational structure had a significant and positive influence on the performance of state corporations in Kenya and recommended that most state corporations should consider leveraging and optimizing key aspects of organizational structure such as concentration of authority degree of bureaucracy and the span of management ratio.

Abstract: Sustainability and digitalization have nowadays become core aspects of entrepreneurial actions. In a post-COVID world sustainable solution will be encouraged by incentives and regulations. If businesses want to survive on the market as a progressive company in the long term, they are almost forced to be digitally innovative. Therefore, during the pandemic, many businesses have enforced their investments in sustainable solutions. However, digital innovation activities can only be promising in the long term if they consider sustainable developments and are therefore “sustainable” themselves. Thus, digital innovation and sustainability, in context of entrepreneurial activities and business decisions requires a special approach. As sustainable digital innovation changes the way we are doing business now and in the future, we have gone through contextual settings and how perceived changes will affect businesses, but our approach has been to address the market opportunities. Sustainable digital innovation enables industry to take advantage of opportunities that sustainability concerns bring. Changes in the business environment asks for new solutions and new business approaches. The potential of digital technologies can help business leaders think about managing and re-defining/innovate company’s roles in their business ecosystems.
