Abstract: The purpose of this research study is to develop a novel, simple, precise, accurate and economical method for determination of Apixaban API isomers. Apixaban API has three isomer as ortho, meta and para. In reverse phase and normal phase chromatography it was very difficult to separate these isomer; hence new chiral technique was adopted. This chromatographic method was developed on chiralpak IA column (250×4.6×5µm) with isocritic technique. The detection of isomeric impurities were observed at wavelength 290nm. This analytical method was validated as per ICH guideline and regression analysis showed R value (correlation coefficient) > 0.999 for Apixaban API and its isomeric impurities. A solution of Apixaban in dichloromethane was found stable up to 48 hrs. The degradation study was done within the given guidelines prescribed by ICH. The method is validated for Linearity, Accuracy and Precision.

Abstract: Noug Guizotia abyssinica (L. f.) Cass is an ancient and underutilized oilseed. In Ethiopia it is among the most important oilseed in terms of area coverage, volume of production and the main source of edible oil for local consumption. Determining the genetic diversity is fundamental in any noug improvement program. The objective of this study was to find out the extent and pattern of genetic diversity among noug genotypes. The experiment was carried out at Holetta, Ethiopia from June to December 2017 using 98 accessions and two improved varieties. The treatments were arranged in 10 x 10 simple lattice designs. Analysis of variance and variance components were estimated using SAS 9.3. The analysis of variance revealed significant difference (p < 0.05) among the genotypes for all the traits. The highest phenotypic coefficient of variation (78.8) was observed for number of heads per plant. Genotypic coefficient of variation ranged from 2.6 for yield per plot to 72.3 for number of heads per plant. The highest broad sense heritability (90.1) was observed for oil content and the lowest value (37.5%) noted for number of primary branch. The genetic gain ranged from 3.8 for yield per plot to 136.7 for number of head per plant. The study indicates the presence of genetic variability among the tested genotypes which implies the possibility for future improvement and the need for the initiation of a planned breeding and conservation programs by considering all growing areas as important source of desirable traits.

Abstract: Ionic Polymer Metal Composites (IPMCs) are a group of electroactive polymer materials that exhibit a large deformation due to the application of low voltages resulting from the movement of cations inside the polymer. These materials have many applications in various fields such as Micro-robotics, biomedical engineering equipment and artificial muscles. Due to the possibility of producing these materials in micro dimensions they can also be used in micro-electromechanical systems. On the other hand, due to their sensitivity to very low voltages, they can be a good substitute for silicon in micro-electromechanical systems. In the present study, the dynamical analysis of a micro-beam fixed at two ends made of these materials is investigated using electrical-chemical-mechanical relations. COMSOL Multiphysics software is used to solve the relations. The results showed that for harmonic stimulation (sinusoidal voltage) the system experiences only the same form of the first mode. It was also observed that increasing the frequency would decrease the amplitude of the micro-beam oscillation.

Abstract: The reaction of Ethyl 5-(piperidin-1-yl-methyl)furan-2-carboxylate with 4-amino salicylic acid afford a 4-(5-((diphenylamino)methyl)furan-2-carboxamido)-2-hydroxybenzoic acid (PFSA). The transition metal complexes of Cu2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Mn2+ and Zn2+ of PFSA have been prepared. The objective of the research work is synthesis, characterization and chelating properties of furan ring containing organic ligands. To monitor its antimicrobial activity. PFSA and all the metal complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, spectral studies, magnetic moment determination, molar conductivity measurement. The free ligand and it’s complexes have been tested for their antibacterial activities against two types of human pathogenic bacteria the first group is gram positive while the second group is gram negative (by using agar well diffusion method). Finally, it was found that compounds show different activity of inhibition on growth of the bacteria. The conclusion is Ni (II) Cu (II), Co (II) and Mn (II) complexes possess octahedral geometry around the central metal ion.

Abstract: Crop pest management in agriculture is important to safeguard crop yield and increase productivity. The need for sustainable and eco-friendly pest management practices is strongly felt with the increasing awareness of the harmful effects of the synthetic insecticides on the non- target organisms, humans and the environment. The demand for bio-pesticides is rising steadily in all parts of the world. Therefore, the current study was carried out with the objectives to review, note and have the know-how all about microbial bio-pesticides and their use in pest management program. When used in integrated pest management systems, bio-pesticides efficacy can be equal to or better than conventional products, especially for crops like fruits, vegetables, nuts and flowers. Microbial bio-pesticides can be smart inputs and components in integrated pest management program. By combining performance and safety, they perform efficaciously while providing the flexibility of minimum application restrictions, superior residue and resistance management potential, and human and environmental safety benefits. It is very likely that in future their role will be more significant in agriculture and forestry. Bio-pesticides clearly have a potential role to play in development of future integrated pest management strategies hopefully, more rational approach will be gradually adopted towards bio-pesticides including microbial bio-pesticides in the near future and short-term profits from chemical pesticides will not determine the fate of bio-pesticides.

Abstract: Compositions based on bentonite and acrylic copolymers were obtained. The dependence and improvement of the thermal characteristics of polymer compositions was also observed in the study of materials based on poly (styrene-co-acrylamide) with bentonite clay of Navbakhor Deposit. The use of bentonites as fillers significantly increased the thermal properties of the resulting composites and to reduce their combustibility, which allows them to be used as slow-burning materials. That bentonite-filled composites are more thermally stable than unfilled copolymers. The use of various types of clays as polymer matrix modifiers allows us to solve a range of tasks from increasing the deformation-strength characteristics to obtaining materials of a given geometric shape, which leads to the creation of a whole assortment of new “intelligent” polymer composite materials. In addition to giving the polymer matrix improved strength characteristics, it is necessary that the composites retain their sorption properties, therefore, one of the types of fillers that are used are bentonites. This allows you to immediately unambiguously determine the nature of the processes in the substance, which is impossible to do only according to DTA or other thermodynamic methods. Research of polymer composite materials in work it was carried out on the derivatograph STD Q600 with a temperature range of -25 ־ 500°C and the rate of temperature rise - 5°C/min. Differential scanning calorimetry is a universal, reliable and the most popular method of thermal analysis. He based on the measurement of the difference in heat flows coming from the subject the sample and the reference sample. Using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) you can define a variety of variables that characterize properties of substances and materials and of interest as for the theory, and for practice. The speed of obtaining the results of the analysis, a large importance for solving research problems and quality control of raw materials and.

Abstract: Malnutrition in children remains one of the most important public health and developmental problems in the developing world, mainly affecting the poor and under privileged. Children are most vulnerable to malnutrition in developing countries because of low dietary intakes, lack of appropriate feeding practices, food insecurity and inequitable distribution of food within the households. Therefore, this paper was designed to review nutritional and food security status of children under five years in Ethiopia. The review showed that child under nutrition in Ethiopia is a concern for the households with poor economic level and it covers large areas and affects significant number of people. This work also reviewed that in different regions of Ethiopia, magnitude of under nutrition and food insecurity were very high in rural areas where livelihood depends on backward farming system. Moreover, this work indicate that household food insecurity is a critical variable for understanding the nutritional status of children in low income countries; as low income is associated with poor diet, food insecurity and poor child health. Therefore, depending on reviewed document, to address nutritional and food security issue in Ethiopia, all responsible bodies should incorporate different research outputs to design programs to tackle under nutrition and food insecurity problems in Ethiopia.
