Abstract: Distant marriage has widely been researched on in other professionals such as lawyers, doctors, soldiers. However, in the teaching fraternity, this phenomenon has not been widely studied. Thus, the lived experiences of teachers in long distant marriage are generally unknown. This study aimed to assess the lived experiences of teachers faced with long distant marriages and the dynamics on perceived marital as well as job fulfilment in Zambia. This study used ethnographic research methods to uncover the lived experiences of teachers in long distance Choma district of Zambia. Three schools were the primary focus of the study; St Mark’s, Choma Boarding and Njase. Interview with open and closed questions and observation protocols were used to collect data. The study found that teachers on long distant marriage must prepare themselves adequately by adapting to it through, consulting with the Ministry of General Education on available payroll vacancies, family, visitation, proper planning, and management of their finances. Indeed, work presence and input/output as well as to engage in social activities were critical moments for the respondents. Respondents gave their concerns on their continued stay in long-distance marriages which may be useful for educational planners and implementers. The study recommends that the Zambian Ministry of Education should redesign the deployment policy of teachers to cater for those in long distance marriages. Finally, the study recommends additionally that the impact of long-distance marriage on a learner be investigated by other researchers.

Abstract: The complexity of graduates’ family background, age, social experience and education motivation, combined with their distinctive characteristics, had brought great challenges to the graduate ideological and political education. It is difficult to influence different kind of graduates with the same methods. Only enhancing students’ independent-ability can probably solve this problem. Graduates’ independent-ability gives students a chance to full play their role so as to exploit their self-education and self-accomplishment capability. It includes five aspects, which are spontaneous struggle consciousness, independent innovation spirit, independent problem-solving ability, self-adjustment ability and independent choice-making ability. But the survey finds various problems existing in cultivation of graduates’ independent-ability restrict further development of graduates and impact a great bad influence on education. Therefore, how to strengthen their independent-ability is critical in improving high-level education quality. The current study needs to make a breakthrough. “Orientation-participatory” system proposes a new way of cultivating graduates. Based on the principles of people-oriented, ability-focused, guidance-strengthened and broad participation, “Orientation-participatory” graduates’ independent-ability cultivation system gives full play to the external factor orientation and the internal factor participatory, and construct a graduate education management system which covers four latitudes, namely education content, education method, education subject and education environment, and includes many levels such as management regulation, independent platform and campus culture, and so on. “Orientation-participatory” system is expected to inspire the graduates’ independent-ability cultivation and shed some light on further study.

Abstract: Recent researches in SlA have exhibited the affect-turn, highlighting the role of affect in promoting students’ English acquisition. Beginning from this, the papers argues to reframe English teaching and learning from positive psychology, concerned with developing students’ emotional development and holistic development. One of the central aims of language education is to produce holistic persons, and English as a second language is no exception. English can contribute greatly to producing sound and holistic persons with its great literature and its stories. To expand and and enrich English education, positive psychology sheds a new light. Based on literature review, the paper argues the necessity, validity, and pathways of reframing English teaching and learning. From the positive psychology, the reframing of English teaching and learning encompasses: developing learners’ emotional development as veritable teaching aims; building caring and emotional teacher-student relationships; constructing positive learning experiences for learners by employing humanistic activities; developing learners’ positive traits and growth mindset; and developing positive teachers. Incorporating Positive Psychology into SLA has highlighted the contribution SLA has made to produce whole people by promoting learners’ emotional development, to redress the imbalance of affect and cognition in English education. The core values of positive psychology and the core mission of English education align with each other, and their merge into one benefits to produce holistic learning and holistic people. No instrumental people are produced and human dignity is restored. The great changes in the world call for deeper learning, and the integration of positive psychology with SLA is the exact move needed for this, for personal thriving, national thriving, and the world’s thriving.

Abstract: The association rule between college students' daily behavior and school records has been the focus of education. Firstly, this paper summarizes the previous research results on this kind of problem, and studies many factors that affect college students' performance. Secondly, as an example of Institute of Disaster Prevention in China, the data of school records, online time and library time were extracted in this paper. The association between school records and the average daily online time, the average daily network flow and the time staying in library are discussed qualitatively via statistical analysis. It is pointed out that there is a negative correlation between daytime online time and academic records, and a positive correlation between library stay time and academic records. Then, using K-means clustering mining algorithm to analyze the online time and academic records, the results show that the excellent students spend less time online than the poor students, especially in the daytime. And using Apriori association analysis mining algorithm to study the relationship between the length of stay in Library and academic records. The minimum support and minimum credibility are set at 60%, and three strong association rules are obtained, that is, the students with good academic records stay in library for the longest time, the students with general academic records take the second place, and the students with poor academic records stay in library for the shortest time, which is completely consistent with the actual situation. This shows that the results of statistical method and data mining algorithm are consistent, that is, students who study well spend less time on Internet (shorter in the day) and more time in library than those with average records. The conclusion can help teachers to guide students to improve their achievement, so that students can better complete their studies, which has important guiding significance.

Abstract: The study investigates the impacts of Inductive Teaching Method (ITM) and Deductive Teaching Method (DTM) on the performance of Junior Secondary School three (JSS III) students in Basic science. The study applied a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design. Six (6) junior secondary schools three (JSS III) were purposively chosen inside Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nigeria. A total of six hundred and twenty (620) participants comprising of three hundred and fifty-five (355) male students and two hundred and sixty-five (265) were involved in the study. The intact class was used in each of the selected schools, and the instruments for data collection was the Basic Science Performance Test (BSPT). The arithmetic means standard variation and One-way Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) were applied using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26 to test two hypotheses at the 0.05 level of significance. The preliminary test result revealed that the data collected met the normality assumption, few outliers and homogeneity of variance. The main result showed that the most effective and preferred teaching method is the inductive teaching method. There was a significant difference in the male student's mean performance [F (2,351)=25.911, p=0.000] between the three groups. The study also discovered no significant difference in the female student's mean performance [F (2,260)=0.154, p=0.857] between the three groups while adjusting for the pretest score. Given the discoveries, it is suggested that the utilization of inductive teaching method should be encouraged and the necessary facilities and equipment needed for proper implementation should be provided by the school authorities.

Abstract: Learning difficulties are neurological disorders that can negatively affect the learning areas. Students with learning difficulties are not less intelligent than their ordinary peers and can even be smarter, but their academic achievement may not be as desired when it comes to basic skills for learning such as reading, writing, listening and speaking. Some of them have a difficulty learning the concepts of geography. This may be due to teaching them using traditional methods that may not suit their learning styles. Therefore, these students need early discovery as well as instructional intervention by the teachers to reach better results in their learning. This research paper aims to focus on the geographic concepts that students should be able to understand and promote their learning in (K-12) classrooms, identify students' learning difficulties for these concepts, and adopt an approach based on representational systems of personality as an attempt to overcome students' learning difficulties for the geographic concepts. Rich data was collected through the analytical descriptive methodology which informed the development of instructional interventions according to each representational system of personality. This research paper suggests a set of instructional interventions based on representational systems of personality: (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic) to overcome students' difficulties in learning geography, which could benefit those in charge of teaching geography, educational policy-makers, and researchers in the same field. This research paper is divided into four parts. The first part tackles the basic geographic concepts of geographic education that students should be able to understand in (K-12) classrooms. The second part focuses on students' learning difficulties in geography, while the third part sheds light on representational systems of personality. Finally, part four provides instructional interventions based on representational systems of personality as an approach to overcome students' learning difficulties in geography.

Abstract: Teachers are important tools in educational system particularly in secondary education. They are the ones who impart knowledge to the students and play other fundamental roles in shaping students’ intellectual skills. This may be the reason why it is generally believed that no nation can grow without teacher. Thus, adequate utilisation of these teachers should be paramount to any educational centres. Generally, some teachers are under-utilised while others are over-utilised. In most cases, the utilisation of these teachers cold depends on a particular school, be it public, private or missionary schools. At this point, it becomes important to examine which of these educational centres (public, private and missionary) utilise teachers more and in what capacity are they been utilised. There are speculations that teachers in private and missionary schools are over-utilised that teachers in public. Though no empirical evidence known to the researcher has established factors such as class size and usual assignment influence teachers’ utilisation. This study therefore analysed teachers’ utilisation in educational centres, Delta State, Nigeria. It was a descriptive survey which adopted the ex-post-facto design, with a population of 1227 principals in educational centres in Delta State from which a sample of 245 was drawn representing 20% of the entire population when purposive sampling technique was adopted. Self-developed questionnaire titled “Teachers’ Utilisation in Educational Centres” (MUEC) was used to acquire information from respondents. The instrument was validated through experts’ judgement thereby established face and content validity. Split-half reliability test was further conducted on the instrument and a coefficient of 0.81 was obtained indicating a high reliability index. Data was analyses with mean rating and standard deviation while Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was adopted in hypotheses testing at 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that factors influencing teachers’ utilisation are number of classes handled by the teacher, number of subjects taught by teachers among others. Also, class size could influence teachers’ utilisation since classroom management is difficult in large class-size and finds it difficult to identify students by name. Also, significant difference exists among educational centres in Delta State on how class size and usual assignment influence teachers’ utilisation. From the findings it was recommended that school principals should try to distribute responsibility equally such that there will be no under or over utilisation of teachers within the school.

Abstract: In line with global change, the policy of privatization has become a concern of government in Nigeria, which led to the proposal of establishing Private Universities in the pursuit and enhancing of educational system. Establishment of private Universities in the country has served as a relief to the pressures on the government owned institutions. Thus, it is also essential for the appropriate authority to regulate the operation of Private Universities so as to ensure that the objectives of its establishment and services rendered are in order, as it is done for the government own institutions. The paper therefore focused on the emergence of Private Universities in Nigeria and the basis for accreditation of academic programmes offered in Private Universities. The paper therefore traced along the emergence of accreditation procedure of the Private Universities in history and also examines the need for such situations. More so, the paper identifies and discuses some key areas accessed by the Nigerian University commission (NUC) during accreditation in the development of Private Universities in Nigeria with a view to appraising them. Also, it enumerates the requirements for accreditation of academic programmes in Private Universities in Nigeria, with greater emphases on the impact of academic library in the accreditation of Private University programmes. This is because the provision and use of library materials and services affects the quality of the students’ educational experience. How institutions manage and support library in the provision of adequate resources reflects the priorities of the institution, the educational goals and the performance of students and graduates. The use of information communication resources in organising and retrieving of information in the library, availability of relevant print and non –print materials in the collection of the university library for accreditations are also stated. The currency of the library holdings and the quantity/quality of each material in relation to the programme been accredited are clearly highlighted.
