Abstract: As the intensive search for answers to varied global challenges such as structural economic shifts and recessions persist, government and corporate leaders throughout the world are increasingly looking to "their" universities to offer solutions that promote regional development and boost national competitiveness. The enactment of an entrepreneurial institutions of higher learning can play a significant role in knowledge-based economies, where knowledge is an influential component of output to advance the economy. The entrepreneurial institution of higher education is one of the key forces that propel social systems, and hence entrepreneurship can be viewed as both a process and an outcome for this force. How these institutions interpret and respond to this call will define the University of the Future. But has their impact been felt so far? These universities are themselves struggling to remain relevant and operational due to economic challenges; more so in developing economies like Kenya where they previously relied on government funding and tuition fees only. This study seeks to investigate the opportunities and challenges for Kenyan universities in transforming themselves to become entrepreneurial universities. This goal is two-fold in that it denotes how colleges are approaching this new epoch of self-reliance, as well as reflects the principles of the entrepreneurial society, of which the university is a part. By offering a thorough analysis of numerous case studies from across the globe, the research deepens our knowledge towards creation of an entrepreneurial institution of higher education ecosystem, and thus offers strategies for Kenyan and other African universities to become an integral part in re-writing the pragmatic role of institutions of higher learning in the economic advancement of their respective countries. Universities are called upon to improve their programs, delivery of the content, the output quality (entrepreneurial students) and meaningful interaction with stakeholders. Entrepreneurial universities will be born and sustained through entrepreneurial degree programmes, creation of corporate alliances, development of entrepreneurial cultures and ecosystems, and development of initiatives and programmes for the commercialization of scientific research, among other strategies.

Abstract: Objective Blended teaching has become the hot spot and advanced direction of educational reform, but there is little experience of blended teaching in clinical medicine internship courses. Besides, there is a lack of student ability assessment with empirical data supporting it in this research field, where our study aims to fill the gap. Methods We organized and implemented blended teaching in the breast oncology department for the class 2018 students’ clinical internship course by establishing and providing an online database. We collected student feedback through questionnaires and combined it with their comprehensive assessment results and teacher evaluations to jointly analyze and evaluate the improvement of students' abilities. Results This study effectively collected 137 questionnaires, of which 55 were from males (40.1%). The study found that the introduction of blended teaching could better solve many problems in breast oncology department clinical internships, avoid patient privacy issues, break the limitations of time and space, and expand the depth and breadth of students' learning. Students had large and persistent demands for learning resources, and some even increased during the clinical internship, which indicated that blended teaching was conducive to improving students' independent learning abilities. At the same time, students were satisfied with the online database which improved their learning effectiveness and clinical internship experience. Various data showed that incorporating blended teaching into clinical internships enhanced students' core clinical competencies. Conclusion This practice fills the shortcomings of existing research and has positive reference significance for promoting the deepening development of blended teaching and the reform of internship courses.

Abstract: In the intelligent teaching environment empowered by information technology, the methods and approaches for course examinations have become increasingly diverse, with a greater emphasis on assessing the learning process and linking it to final exams. Computer-assisted testing, as a new examination system, has gained attention and recognition from educators. It has reformed traditional teaching models to a certain extent, liberating teachers from repetitive and labor-intensive teaching activities while improving the overall teaching quality. Taking the application of the iTEST paperless testing system in English Listening course as an example, this study establishes a testing template and evaluates the role of the iTEST system in teaching. The research methods used in this study include quantitative and qualitative research methods, such as interviews and statistical analysis. By collecting feedback from students and teachers who have used the iTEST system, the study aims to understand the advantages and limitations of the iTEST system as perceived by teachers. Through statistical analysis, the study evaluates the examination results of the iTEST system and compares them with those of traditional paper-based tests. The results indicate that the iTEST paperless testing system can effectively enhance the teaching outcomes of English Listening courses, providing students and teachers with a more flexible, efficient, and accurate testing experience.
